What is Banah Familia?

Familia (Swahili and Spanish): family 

We are a grassroots, social, learning, coaching community and  business incubator for aspiring female and youth entrepreneurs. We are Shakin' the Tree! 

Our Mission
is to build families and elevate communities by providing innovative workforce development, and socio-economic empowerment programs that educate, strengthen, uplift, and ignite.

Our Vision
is to collectively facilitate  economic competitiveness, self efficacy and abundance, by providing access to the skills, tools and support, necessary to build a future on a solid foundation.  

                   


Banah Familia is a refuge, a sanctuary, a retreat. A place to learn, dream and create, laugh and weep. We are the place you let go, the place where you come to feel love and home. We will hold you in our hearts and lift you up.

Banah Entrepreneurial Institute  

Is  an innovative workforce development initiative that serves as a business incubator and coaching program for established and aspiring  female entrepreneurs.  Through our collaborative relationships with the Small Business Council, the Charlottesville Office of Economic Development, and local business owners, we assist community members in the process of bringing their ideas of small business ownership to fruition.  Programs include assessment and evaluation of the market for their product or service, business plan development; and website design support. Our Entrepreneurial Toolbox encourages  to discover, define and build upon their existing assets while developing essential skills that promote sustainable success.  

Banah Youthpreneurs 

Is a dynamic, interactive culturally relevant after school program for high school students that focuses on  projects that  facilitate and encourage entrepreneurial thinking, and the awareness that limitless opportunities exist with their ideas.  Mentors provide instruction on market research, business planning, product development and placement strategies as well as facilitiating life skills workshops in the areas of professional presentation, financial literacy and relationship building. Our program helps build foundational life and personal skills that help promote achievement both in and outside the classroom.

Banah Hut Bazaar! 

Please join us for coffee or tea and a treat or two and see what women and youth in our community are dreaming, believing and doing! We offer a unique venue for graduates of our program, as well as community entrepreneurs to promote and sell their services or products at our quarterly community event.  Locations and dates to be announced!
